Ambedkar Jyanti Commemorated at Congress HQ in Jammu


 

 

Jammu, April 14: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratan Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 126th  Birth Anniversary, in a function held at PCC HQ. Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu, which was presided over by the Former Minister and  Vice-President J&K PCC Shri  Mula Ram and attended by several senior leaders of the party.

While paying floral tributes to the father of Indian Constitution,  the senior Congress leader Mula Ram described Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar as one of the towering personalities of modern India who will always be remembered for his outstanding contribution for the upliftment of the downtrodden people in this country.

He said that we all should follow the path shown by Baba Sahib for equality and social justice and to bring about complete harmony and unity in diversity. He also reminded about the struggle faced by Baba Sahib against the social evils and backwardness.

Former Minister and Vice President PCC Sh. Raman Bhalla recalled his relentless efforts for the rights of the under privileged sections of the society and to get them their  constitutional rights in every sphere of life on the principle of equality. The Indian Constitution is a unique document representing the pluralistic character of our Country. He will always be remembered for his pivotal role in formulating the Constitution of India, the largest democracy of the World. Sh. Bhalla also cautioned the people against the designs of anti-social and anti national forces and lashed out the present dispensation in the country and state for their failure check such forces. He also condemned and regretted the incidents of insult towards the Jawans in the valley under present regime of BJP.

Sh. Jahangir Mir Dy. Chairman LC paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar and recalled his contributions under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Nehru and other great stalwarts of the time. He criticized the attempts to distort history and mislead about the role of great stalwarts for the country.

Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma remembered the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar during freedom struggle and post independence era. After India gained independence in 1947, Ambedkar accepted Congress' proposal to serve as the country's first Law Minister and was appointed chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee on 29 August, 1947. On 26 November 1949, the Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly. He said that Indian constitution formed under his chairmanship, is one of the best document in the World which takes care of the aspirations of the largest pluralistic society in the World. He was messiah of the poor and downtrodden in the country and dedicated his life for their upliftment and social integration by protecting their interests in the constitution.

Smt. Kanta Bhan and Anil Chopra also paid floral tributes to him and cautioned against the forces of exploitation and hatred which goes against his philosophy and sprit of the constitution.
