New Delhi, March 15: The Govt. said that out of 255 deregistered political parties, as many as 206 are non traceable. Income Tax Department has found that there are 32 political parties which are not active, Minister of State for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
The EC had asked the Central Board of Direct Taxes to look into the finances of 255 registered time back but unrecognised political parties for not contesting polls in the last one decade. Enquiries in such cases were undertaken by the IT Department. 206 parties were found to be non existent.(Input from agencies)
