Inclusive Plan Underway To Upgrade Amenities In Gandhi Nagar Constituency: Kavinder14 March, 2017, By Cross Town News
JAMMU, Mar 14 - Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today said that a comprehensive development plan is underway to improve basic amenities like power supply, water supply, road connectivity, healthcare and sanitation in the Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Addressing a well attended public meeting at Karan Bagh and Ajit Nagar here today, the Speaker called for active and larger public participation in the development process to ensure effective and successful implementation of various developmental and welfare programmes. Referring to the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Mr. Kavinder said that this flagship programme has been launched nation-wide to ensure total sanitation in cities and rural areas and people’s massive participation is must for its implementation at the grass-root level, he asserted.
Listing some of the developmental initiatives in the Gandhi Nagar constituency, the Speaker maintained that all main roads in rural belt, including Chatha-SKUAST, Jeevan Nagar-Maralian, Satwari-RS Pura, Sunjwan-Chatta road have been upgraded/black-topped during the last two years and efforts are afoot to improve all remaining road links in the constituency in a phased manner.
Responding to various demands projected by the people including upgradation of lanes and drains, sanitation, replacement/up-gradation of power infrastructure, Mr. Gupta assured to address all these issues on priority.
The Speaker also undertook an extensive tour of these localities to take stock of the existing infrastructural facilities. He issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned agencies to immediately take steps to address the issues projected by the people. He directed the officers to monitor the developmental and welfare schemes on regular basis so that their benefits percolate down to the needy populace.
SDM Jammu South, Sonu Pargal and other officers from concerned departments accompanied the Speaker.
Earlier, the Speaker launched works for laying water supply pipeline at Nanak Nagar to augment existing water supply scenario in the area.
AEE PHE, Sanjay Chopra, besides other concerned officials and locals in large numbers were present on the occasion.
