RAMBAN, FEBRUARY 12: With an aim to acquaint the farmers with latest technological interventions in the Apiculture sector and mushroom cultivation a tour of 40 progressive farmers was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz today.
During the three day tour organized by Agriculture Department under Chief Minister Apiculture Project the farmers will visit SKUAST-Jammu and a group of 25 farmers will be imparted latest know how about Mushroom cultivation under ATMA.
Addressing the participants, the DDC said that such tours help the farmers to acquaint themselves with the latest Agricultural technology and practices for the better crop production. He advised the farmers to make best use of the training programme where they would also get an opportunity to interact with the scientists and field expert.
DDC also said that requisite steps are underway to tap the potential of bee-keeping in the district and special focus is being laid on generating awareness among women and youth motivating them to adopt it as an economic activity.
District Agriculture Officer, K K Koul, Apiculture Development Officer Banihal, Ayaz Ahmed Rishi, Apiculture Development Officer Gool, Abdul Rashid Shan and Agriculture Extension Officer, Halla Jugdish Singh Bali will accompany the farmers during the visit.
