Chennai, Dec 24: A former Indian Revenue Service officer, R Sekar, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by a special CBI court in Chennai for corruption and accepting bribes from recruitment agents.
Sekar, who held the position of protector of emigrants from 2007 to 2009, was convicted of accepting bribes to clear emigration certificates & another Anwar Hussain, a recruiting agent involved in the bribery scheme, received a four-year rigorous imprisonment sentence.
