NEW DELHI, Dec 18: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, has approved the central deputation of Dr Raghav Langer, IAS as Director in the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India for a period of 02 years, as per details with Cross Town News.
Raghav Langer , IAS Officer of Uttrakhand cadre , earlier during Deputation to Jammu and Kashmir remained at prolific postings including DivCom Jammu , Secretary Planning J&K , DC Kathua , DC Pulwama.
DoWR, RD & GR, GoI is responsible for all programmes for the development, conservation and management of water as a national resource along with laying down the policy guidelines. Besides dealing with water laws and legislations; providing technical guidance to all States/UT’s, addressing inter-State, trans-boundary & multilateral water issues; water quality assessment; rejuvenation & pollution abatement of river Ganga & other rivers; irrigation, flood control and multi-purpose projects; ground water management; dam safety, interlinking of rivers etc.
Central Ground Water Board, National Dam Safety Authority, Central Water Commission, Central Soil & Materials Research Station, CWPRS, National Institute of Hydrology, various River Dispute Tribunals/Boards/Authorities, Ganga Flood Control Commission, WAPCOS, National Projects Construction Corporation, National Mission for Clean Ganga, NRCD, National Water Informatics Centre etc are some of the key institutions & organisations under the department.
