NIA hires IAF aircraft to fly 1 lakh documents on terror funding

New Delhi, Jan 19: A team of the NIA has recently hired an AN-32 aircraft from the Indian Air Force to take documents on terror funding from Kashmir to Lucknow. The documents, weighing nearly 15 tonnes, were transported under the supervision of a company of CRPF and NIA sleuths reporter said.

Due to shortage of space in the NIA headquarters in New Delhi, the documents, nearly one lakh in number, were flown to Lucknow, where the agency has got a new office. The investigative agency had to hire two trucks to transport the documents to and from the aircraft. The documents pertain to financial cross-border transactions done mostly between 2015-2016. Each transaction has 12 access points, which implies that 12 more sheets of paper are attached to every transaction.

An NIA officer said that the papers are related to 12 lakh documents which are currently under scrutiny. The agency has engaged a financial analyst to examine the documents.
