Drabu, Ansari inaugurate ‘Digi Dhan Mela’

JAMMU, Jan  17 - Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb A Drabu and Minister for IT, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari today inaugurated the ‘Digi Dhan Mela’ in Jammu and termed less cash economy a way forward towards curbing corruption and black money which will boost economic growth.

                Speaking on sidelines of the Mela at Gulshan Ground here, Dr Drabu said the state government is looking to make less cash economy a successful enterprise in the State and it will definitely encourage retail marketing and mobile banking.

                The Minister further said the State government is contemplating to digitise daily transactions like the one in Lakhanpur so that the daily transaction taking place in such big establishments are carried out in an efficient and transparent manner.

                Imran Raza Ansari while speaking on the occasion said that digital transactions will definitely help in infusing more transparency and accountability in the state.

                He also said the essence of the cashless economy is that even small vendors make use of digital payments and present their mobile records to borrow money from banks.

                Both the Ministers also took a round of the stalls established by various banks, where they were apprised that the people are being sensitized about the benefits of digital transactions.

                Minister of State for Finance, Ajay Nanda and senior officers of Finance and IT department were present on the occasion.

‘Digi-Dhan Mela’ is a fair being organized across the country together by the Centre and the state governments to promote digital and cashless transactions.
