CS Felicitates Meritorious Students In Jammu, Lauds Welfare Initiatives Of DBPS15 January, 2017, By Cross Town News
JAMMU, JANUARY 15 – The Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS), Jammu organized an impressive function here today to felicitate the meritorious students, who excelled in the academic and other co-curricular activities during the year 2016.
Chief Secretary, B R Sharma was chief guest while MLA Rajesh Gupta and Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof R D Sharma were guests of honor on the occasion. President DBPS, Ved Prakash Sharma presided over the function.
As many as 229 students from across the Jammu division who secured positions at the State Board and CBSE exams and brought laurels for the State were honored. Master Gaurav Sharma from Gurukul Katra, who has unique achievement of securing three national level gold medals in different competitions, was also among those honored.
The Chief Secretary and other dignitaries presented mementoes and certificates of merits to the outstanding students.
The DBPS has been organizing such functions every year for the past some decades and honoring the meritorious students from all communities to encourage them for their achievements. The initiative encourages other students to do well in their endeavor.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary complimented the DBPS for its endeavor to encourage the students for their achievements and said that the initiative will go a long way in inspiring more students to excel in their career. He highlighted the rich contribution of the Sabha for the development of the society and mankind, irrespective of caste, creed and color. He urged the functionaries of the Sabha to enlarge their activities for the welfare of the poor sections of the society.
He also congratulated the students and their parents for their achievements and wished them for a better future. He showered special praise for the girl students, who outshined the boys with their outstanding performance in the 10th and 12th class exams and said that this is the indication of a vibrant and prosperous future generation. He also asked the meritorious students to help the fellow students to do well in their career.
Prof. R.D. Sharma also lauded the rich contribution of the Sabha in the philanthropic initiatives to uplift the poor sections of the society. Honoring the students is a big encouragement for them to achieve more milestones in life. He also congratulated the students for their achievements and said that hard work is the only parameter for achieving the success and they should continue to work hard in life. He also advised the students to maintain good habits, principles, moral character which are key to progress and prosperity. He wished them success in future career.
MLA Rajesh Gupta highlighted the long and rich history of Dogra Brahman Pratinidh Sabha and said that the Sabha has been doing yeoman’s job since past 150 years. The Sabha has been engaged in numerous welfare activities in helping the poorest of the poor and making constant efforts to eradicate evils from the society. He said that Brahman Samaj was the torch bearer and led the society from the front that inspired everyone to live a peaceful and prosperous life. He also congratulated the students for their achievements in academic activities.
Mr. Gupta also assured the Sabha to contribute in its welfare initiatives and said that he will do whatever possible on his part.
Pt Ved Prakash Sharma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the activities of the Sabha. He said the Sabha felicitates the meritorious students every year to encourage their achievements. He said it is endeavor of the DBPS to help the poor and work for the overall welfare of the society, irrespective of caste, creed and color. He expressed gratitude to the dignitaries for gracing the occasion.
Earlier, the Sabha also honored the dignitaries by offering them Dogra Turbans and shawls as a mark of respect.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included, Commissioner, JMC, Dr Manmohan Singh, Managing Director, J&K Medical Supplies Corporation, Dr Yashpal Sharma, senior BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma, functionaries of the DBPS and other social organizations, hundreds of prominent citizens, parents and students.
