Div Com reviews Srinagar traffic management plan

          SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 28: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review the Traffic Management Plan (TMP) for Srinagar city.

          The meeting discussed roadside parking, regulation of traffic movement, unauthorized parking slots, rehabilitation of vendors, use of meters in auto rickshaws, radio taxi services and other related issues for smooth traffic management in the city.

          On the occasion, the Div Com directed officers of R&B Department to construct concrete road divider on Batamaloo-Tengpora-Moominabad road within three days for better traffic regulation on the road stretch. He also directed ERA officials to repair all potholes on Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh road.

          He stressed on coordination among PHE, ERA, R&B, BSNL, and other concerned Departments for effective implementation of developmental projects and to avoid inconvenience to the public. 

          The Divisional Commissioner directed officials of ERA to complete the multiplex parking project at old KMD stop in Lal Chowk at an earliest, besides instructed DC Srinagar to provide a weekly progress report regarding the same.

          He also directed VC SDA to start work on parking lots at Press Colony and Sheikhbagh within 15 days. He also called for repair of all defunct traffic lights in the city at an earliest.

Mr. Khan asked the Traffic Police Department to submit a proposal for the installation of modern bus stops on MA Road to Batamaloo stretch within a week’s time.  He directed RTO to ensure no auto-rickshaw plies without having fare meters installed.  

          The meeting was informed that 3 lakh plus vehicles from within and outside districts ply on Srinagar roads daily which causes traffic congestion. The Div Com further directed the RTO to prepare a proposal for enhancement of route length for local buses and submit the same.  

          He also asked the DC Srinagar to start two additional ladies special buses on their allotted routes.

          Additional Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, IGP Kashmir Zone, DC Srinagar, DIG Traffic, Kashmir, SSP Srinagar, SSP Budgam, SMC Commissioner, RTO Kashmir, Director ERA, VC LAWDA, VC SDA , SSP Traffic,  CE R&B, Chief Town Planner, Representative of Transport Commissioner, and other concerned attended the meeting.
