Imran Ansari takes stock of sports infrastructure in Jammu division

JAMMU, DECEMBER 15: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari today took stock of sports infrastructure and status of work of sports stadiums under construction in Jammu division.

During the review, the Minister enquired about stadiums in Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri among others in the division and impressed upon the concerned to speed up the work for immediate completion.

Giving details regarding the construction works at Indoor Stadium Jammu being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore, the Minister was apprised that the stadium on completion will house multipurpose hall of 44x29m size, fencing hall, two indoor games halls, VIP room, office building, meeting room, separate male and female washrooms besides judo and karate hall.

The Minister said that the stadium will boost the sports culture in the winter capital and provide better training facilities to the sportspersons aiming to compete at national and international platforms.

Minister reviewed the status of the Filter- Bobbin featured swimming pool of 1947.42 Kilolitres capacity with 2.45 meters depth being constructed at M A Stadium Jammu at an estimated cost of Rs 2.03 crore. The Minister also took stock of upgradation and installation of Civil and Electro Mechanical works for re-commissioning of existing swimming pool.

Mr Ansari further reviewed the construction of pavilion at K K Hakku Hockey Stadium being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 17.7 crore. The Minister was informed that the work is in progress and will be completed in a time bound manner.

The Minister directed the concerned for immediate completion of pending works of Pavilion at Palwan Akhnoor Jammu being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 84 lakh.

The Minister also reviewed progress of construction works at Indoor Stadium near Boys Higher secondary School at Akhnoor Jammu being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.35 crore and Indoor Hall at S Bana Singh Stadium, R S Pura coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 68.50 lakh.

The Minister further took stock of construction works at Indoor Stadium at Udhampur being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.35 crore and pavilion at Sports Stadium Reasi which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.33 crore.

Mr Ansari also took stock of upgradation works at Sports Stadium Poonch and Sports Stadium Rajouri under Prime Minister’s special package at an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore.
