Improved road connectivity in rural areas to bridge socio-economic gap: Abdul Haq


 

 

KUPWARA, DECEMBER 11: Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq today said the Government is keen to ameliorate the socio-economic condition of the people in rural areas through various developmental initiatives with focus on improving road connectivity.

“Focus is being laid on upgrading road communication, improving power supply, expanding irrigation facilities and provision for better healthcare and educational facilities in the rural areas through various schemes,” the Minister said while addressing a gathering after laying foundation of various road projects in district Kupwara under PMGSY.

 

He said the 4 KM long Kuligam-Nard road will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.40 crore and it will benefit more than 10000 people who had to foot several kilometers to reach the nearest motorable road. The locals expressed gratitude to the Minister for fulfilling their long-pending demand. 

 

The Minister asked the officials to expedite work on the road so that the same could be thrown open for the public at the earliest.

The Minister also laid foundation stone of Kalaroos-Lasteeil road. The area was cut-off from the rest of the district owing to lack of a bridge and the road. While the bridge is already under construction, the 1.5 KM long approach road would be constructed at a cost of Rs 35 lakh.

Minister also took stock of the progress of work on Under-construction Bridge and asked officials to complete the work within stipulated time.

Abdul Haq also inspected under-construction production well of Goose Water Supply Scheme and took stock of the construction work.  He directed the officials to expedite work on the project and complete it within the stipulated time.

The Minister said under the leadership of Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti several innovative initiatives have been taken to transform the developmental profile of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the functioning of the Government has been made accountable and transparent, with the aim that the benefits of the government schemes reach the masses well in time.

ADC Kupwara, officers of R&B, PMGSY, RDD and district officials were accompanied the Minister.
