Udhampur, November 24: A ‘District level Table Tennis Tournament’ will be held at District Indoor Sports Complex, Udhampur from December 2nd.
This was finallized during a meeting convened by District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Niraj Kumar here today.
SSP Udhampur, Shailendra Mishra, Vice Chairman Udhampur Sports Council, Rahil Gupta and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
The tournament is being organized under the Civic Action Programme in collaboration with the District Administration,Sports council, UTTA and other agencies to hone the sports skill of the local youth.
Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to work in tandem to ensure requisite arrangements are put in place for making the tournament a big success. CEO MC Udhampur was directed to ensure cleanliness at the venue and take adequate steps for publicity of the event along with Department of Information for giving a wider publicity to the event for maximizing participation.
SSP asked all the members present to ensure the coordination and make this event a successful one. He asked DYSSO to ensure proper lodging and boarding facilities for the players coming from far-flung areas.
SSP said this is just the start under Civic Action programme and more such events will be taken up in coming days on much larger volume.
Vice Chairman Udhampur Sports Council assured the technical and financial support from J&K Sports Council to make this event a successful one.
Among others, Joint Director Planning Rakesh Jamwal, ACR Subhash Chander Dogra, PO-DRDA Jagdish Chander Mehra, DYSSO Sudesh Kumar, AD Fire Services, DIO Esha Chib, Tehsildar Javed Iqbal Rather, BDO Udhampur Pradeep Singh besides other officers were present in the meeting.
