BJP committed to encourage rural sports: Manhas


JAMMU,Nov 21: Member Parliament Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas reiterated that BJP government at centre and state is committed to encourage rural sports in Jammu and Kashmir. Central government under its Khelo India- National Programme for Development of Sports scheme is promoting sports activities in urban and rural areas.

Member Parliament (RS), Shamsher Singh Manhas while interacting with the players of cricket tournament at mini stadium, Bhure Chak of Phallian-Mandal said that central government has launched its prestigious scheme Khelo India under National Programme for Development of Sports. The objective of the scheme is mass participation of youth in annual sports competitions through a structured competition; identification of talent,  guidance and nurturing of the talent through existing sports academies and new set up either by the central Government or State Government or in PPP mode and creation of sports infrastructure at mofussil, Tehsil, District and state levels etc.

Earlier, final cricket match was played between Parladpur Cricket Club and Phallian Cricket Club today at Bhure Chak mini stadium. Phallian Cricket Club beat the Parladpur Cricekt Club in an interesting match. Organiser of the match informed that Diwali Cricket tournament was started on 28thof October and 16 teams of different areas participated in this tournament. Final match was played on today and MP (RS) Shamsher Singh Manhas was the chief guest. He also watch the final match and presented memento to the winning team and trophy to organizers.

Shotu clinched title of man of match and man of series. Aman Gupta was declared betw bolwer of the tournament. The prominenent among Jagmohan Sharma (Retd Deputy Secretary) Baru Ram (Sarpanch), Bahadur Singh Manhas, Kuldeep Raj, Mohan Lal, Shiv Ram, Bhupti Keshav, Vishal Sharma and Ricky were also present.
