Jammu Smart City: Several new projects approved


JAMMU, AUGUST 29: Several new projects were approved under Jammu Smart City here at the 10th Board of Directors meeting of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) chaired by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer; alongwith Additional Director General of Police, (Director JSCL) Mukesh Singh.

Among others the meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg; Commissioner JMC, (Chief Executive Officer, Jammu Smart City) Avny Lawasa; Addition CEO, JSCL, Hitesh Gupta; VC JDA, Pankaj Malhotra, besides Chief Engineers of PWD, Jal Shakti, Irrigation & Flood Control, Directors of Tourism, Floriculture, School Education, Youth Services & Sports, senior functionaries of Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and other board members.

The CEO gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the works taken up and completed so far besides future work plans under the   project. She also presented agenda points before the members for discussion and approval of new projects.

The BoD meeting approved installing logos and signages on various completed projects like Multi level Parking General Bus Stand Jammu, Multi-level Car Parking at City Chowk, Reverse Vending Machine, Refuse Compactor etc.

Approval for publishing of e-NIT for Heritage Trail & Beautification of Mubarak Mandi to Raghunath Bazar was also accorded. The project envisages improvement and Upgradation of Road and Drainage, wide walking area with table-top crossings, Pick-up/ drop-off locations, Priced parking, Decorative lighting, New water points, Tree line & Signage, Tactile path – for differently-abled, Benches and dustbins, Underground public utilities etc.

A project for development of Smart Schools and Modernization of School Infrastructure was also apprised and it was informed that the Director School Education, Jammu has submitted proposal for creating Information & Communication Technology (ICT) facility in 286 rooms of 21 Higher Secondary Schools within Jammu Municipal limits. School Education Directorate Jammu has approached the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) for preparing the DPR for strengthening of schools with technology  based digital learning systems as future classrooms, the meeting was told.

The equipment to be installed in these schools include LCD Interactive Panel, PA system, CCTV Surveillance, UPS and setting up of LAN.

As per the approval already accorded by the Government; the progress of DPR formulation of project of Development of Tawi River Front on the pattern of Sabarmati front to give an aesthetic look to the historic river Tawi and promote tourism; was also reviewed by the Board.

The 3.5 KM (both side) long river front is set to be completed in 2 phases. The first phase starts from 4th bridge to Tawi Bridge and phase 2 from Tawi Bridge to Gujjar Nagar Bridge. It was informed that pathways would be constructed on both the sides (banks) of the river to provide easy access to the public.

The board members also discussed in detail other component projects and issues including Integrated Command and Control Centre, Intelligent Traffic Management System, E-bill & paying of civic services, open gyms etc. Various administrative issues were also discussed in the meeting including filling up of vacancies, recruitments for Jammu Smart City Limited.

The Divisional commissioner issued instructions to the concerned officers to expedite the works being taken up by their respective departments for early completion.

The Div Com directed concerned officers to keep ambit of projects for a longer horizon and complete the works in a time bound manner so that tangible results are achieved on the ground. He also asked the concerned departments to work in unison and with more zeal and dedication for completion of Smart City Project to make Jammu a model city.
