 Focus on developing new livelihood ideas for SHG entrepreneurs in J&K: Sehrish Asgar

SRINAGAR, JULY 01: A day-long interaction chaired by MD, J&K Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM), Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar was held with the industry experts from India SME Forum to facilitate women entrepreneurs for better access to untapped marketing and business opportunities. A roadmap was also discussed in the meeting to develop novel livelihood ideas for SHG entrepreneurs.
 While addressing the members, Dr Sehrish said that a team of India SME Forum is here to support the SHG entrepreneurs in understanding the basics about entrepreneurship. It would further provide them with sector specific training besides handholding them to run and grow their businesses successfully. The team would assist in creating conducive conditions for inclusive, resilient and sustainable economies as desired by LG himself.
Dr Sehrish said that the main aim behind India SME Forum is to provide a platform to small and medium entrepreneurs. It is  going to advocate changes to the entrepreneurial ecosystem and to support and recognize globally innovative competitive SMEs in India.
She said the major focus shall be on knowledge development for enterprise promotion, understanding the market trends, value addition interventions, brand promotion, exploring tie-ups and convergence with both business houses and financial institutions.
Dr. Sehrish said the training will inculcate the required skills, soft skill development, decision making ability and competencies of business among our women entrepreneurs.  In addition to general training, sector specific trainings will also be provided which will include both Farm livelihoods like Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Agriculture, Apiculture, Mushroom cultivation and Non-Farm Livelihoods including Handicrafts, Retail, Manufacturing, Food processing, Tailoring, etc.
Dr. Sehrish also informed the participants that it shall be the endeavor of the Mission to develop a roadmap for opening new horizons of livelihoods for SHG entrepreneurs. "Mission would also explore various digital enabling marketing platforms both in offline and online mode".
She said initially 100 SHG entrepreneurs will be supported under this endeavor. She further stressed on convergence with the line departments so that the women entrepreneurs of Umeed shall avail the benefits from all the existing Government schemes.
On the instructions of MD, JKRLM a brainstorming session was also held by the officials for exploring innovative ideas for promoting the business development.
During the interaction, the representatives of SHGs promoted by JKRLM across the Kashmir division discussed in detail their journey towards entrepreneurship and different challenges faced and resolved by them with the active support of JKRLM.
