JAMMU, AUGUST 17 – Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today asked the Revenue and Agriculture departments to expedite the process for ensuring immediate distribution of compensation to the flood victims, who suffered losses during 2014 floods. He was chairing a meeting of concerned departments at R S Pura today.
Stressing for completing the process in a time bound manner, the Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure the same so that no affected family is left without compensation, failing which strict action would be taken against the erring officers.
The Minister while taking a detailed review of the families affected in Suchetgarh and RS Pura during 2014 floods, directed the officers to distribute the compensation to the victims under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) as soon as possible.
The Minister further directed the Patwaris to remain available at Tehsil Headquarters or at their respective Patwar Halqas as per the schedule for the convenience of the people.
The Minister directed SDM RS Pura to ensure that a list of Patwaris along with their contact numbers, place of sitting and timings is displayed on the Notice Boards in their respective Tehsil Office for the benefit of common masses.
The Minister also directed the SDM to conduct regular visits in various villages under his jurisdiction for getting first hand information regarding various problems faced by the people.
Stressing on the need to generate mass awareness regarding various centrally and state sponsored schemes , the Minister directed the concerned officers to organize the awareness programmes regularly.
SDM, RS Pura Vikas Kundal, Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu, Tehsildars, Patwaris besides others were also present in the meeting.
