Kohli reviews progress under district budget at Doda


DODA, AUGUST 06 - Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Mr Abdul Ghani Kohli today chaired a meeting to review physical and financial achievements registered in Doda under district budget for the year 2015-16 and 2016-17.

MLA Doda Mr Shakti Raj Parihar, MLA Bhaderwah Mr Dalip Parihar, Director Sheep Husbandry Mr Sant Ram, Director Fisheries Mr R K Dogra,  DC Doda Mr Bhupinder Kumar, Joint Director Animal Husbandry Mr Praveen Gupta, SSP Doda Zahid Manhas besides  district and sectoral heads of the various departments attended the meeting.

The DC gave a detailed resume of the achievements registered under various sectors during the current and previous years. He also presented a detailed outlay of various developmental projects taken up under different schemes and projects in the district.

The Minister took detailed review of the performance of all the major departments and called upon the functionaries to work in close coordination for effective implementation of schemes. He stressed upon improving the work culture with special focus on time line completion of developmental works.

 Asserting that the present government is committed to work in a transparent and accountable manner, he asked the administration to ensure delivery of services to the common people at their doorstep.

The Minister directed the district and sectoral heads of various departments to consult local MLAs before formulation of projects to ensure need based development. He urged upon the officers to work with dedication to serve the people as any complaint of laxity would invite stringent action.

Stressing upon better surface connectivity and maintenance of roads, Mr Kohli directed the R&B, and PMGSY to take up necessary black topping and patch works wherever required. He further directed for early completion of all the under construction bridges by assuring use of quality material and latest technology.

Referring to the huge potential of cattle rearing in the district, the Minister asked the Animal and sheep husbandry Department to follow standard procedures to maintain the health of livestock. He further added that the department should provide loans to the unemployed youth for setting up farms in their respective areas.

 The Minister also stressed on promoting fish farming by setting of more fish hatcheries near the water bodies in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the legislators presented highlighted the local demands which mainly included augmentation of drinking water supply, electrification of   left out villages, maintenance of roads, timely supply of Rations and others.

 Responding to the demands, the Minister issued necessary directions to the concerned authorities and asked them to ensure early redressal.
