 
Gurez, July 15: To take stock of the field working of dept, the excise commissioner RKSshavan took review at Gurez.
Pertinently after taking ovee as Excise commissioner , Shavan is trying to revamp the working of dept.
However due to covid-19 the work got delayed. Besides granting licences and regulating its trade through various licencees including Army run unit canteens and BRO/ para military supplies the dept also controls Drugs.
A massive campaign has been launched against bhang and poppy destruction in valley with active support of Revenue and police dept.
However in view of recent two big hauls of Narcotic catches in valley, the commissioner has started having strategic discussions to plug all gaps and reinforce the working of dept.
In order to gear up all concerned agencies on ground he is taking frequent reviews at cutting edge level to identify the key issues.
He exhorted the concerned officers to focus on intelligence based, to check the cross border narco buisiness.
Meanwhile the commissioner has also started the work of verification/inspections of all army run unit canteens so that all due duties are regularily being paid to govt and the working procedure is streamlined.
At certain locations due to covid this work could not be carried and has to be deferred, but the concerned unit heads are being asked for relevant reconcilations
It is pertinent to to mention that Shavan is on field tour to valley for the last five days and may still take few more days to visit each district.
