
JAMMU, July 20: A meeting was convened at Chamber house to review the quantum of business losses so far because of the turmoil in Kashmir Valley for the last so many days.
The snapping of Internet services in Jammu province was widely condemned by one and Chamber President Sh. Rakesh Gupta urged the Administration to immediately restore Internet services in Jammu province which has resulted in huge business losses. Moreover it was said that Jammu province was fully cooperating with the administration, so the Internet services should be restored without any further delay otherwise Chamber shall be forced to take appropriate action.
While speaking to Cross Town News , Rakesh Gupta said " An urgent communication through fax was sent to the Hon’ble Finance minister Dr. Haseeb A Drabu requesting extension in the date for filing of VAT returns and also extension in the date for depositing of VAT tax atleast by three months as all the money has been blocked due to the prevailing situation in Kashmir Valley. It was also conveyed that in this situation the business houses in the state of J&K shall not be in a position either to file VAT returns or deposit VAT tax.
The meeting was attended by office bearers of CCI namely Sh. Sham Lal Langer, Sr. Vice President, Sh. Deepak Aggarwal, Jr. Vice President, Sh. Arun Gupta, Secretary General, Sh. Rahul Mahajan, Secretary, Sh. Ashu Gupta, Treasurer and representatives of prominent trade associations.
