Supreme Court orders Private labs not to charge money for COVID-19 test from Patients; Govt should reimburse

New Delhi, April 8: Supreme Court of India in a hisrorical Judgement suggested that  Private labs not to charge money for COVID-19 test henceforthwith.

A Bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and S Ravindra Bhat asked the government to explore the feasibility of a mechanism to reimburse private labs for Coronavirus tests so that citizens don’t have to pay for it.

Justice Bhushan suggested that Create a mechanism for reimbursement (of private labs) from the government & don’t allow private labs to charge a high amount for tests.

Solicitor General, representing the central government told the court that he will take instructions in this regard.
