2 Bills introduced, passed; Pvt members bills; 4 introduced, withdrawn


 

SRINAGAR, June 23: Minister for Finance Dr. Haseeb A Drabu today moved “A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Entry Tax on Goods Act, 2000 (LA Bill No 2 of 2016)” and “A Bill to provide for the withdrawal of certain sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of the Jammu and Kashmir State for the services of the Financial Year 2016-2017 (LA Bill No. 3 of 2016)” for consideration and passing.

Mr. Mubarak Gul, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone, Mr. M. Y. Tarigami and Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar spoke on the Bills and gave their suggestions.

The House later passed the Bills unanimously.

Four private members bills were introduced in the Upper House today.

The Bills included a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, introduced by Dr. Shehnaz Ganai.

A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Code of Criminal Procedure,  Svt. 1989 (1933 A.D), introduced by Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta.

A Bill to prohibit the sale of meat and liquor at Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and its surroundings within a radius of 12 kilometers, introduced by Mr. Jugal Kishore.

A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir State Ranbir Penal Code, Svt. 1989 (1932 A. D.), introduced by Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah (Veeri).

Later, the Bills were withdrawn after threadbare discussion on these and after an assurance from the Government that they would look into the issues raised by the legislators.
