 President of India urged to direct J&K Admn.  to release all political prisoners on Republic Day: Singh

JAMMU, Jan 24: NPP special session was held in New Delhi, capital of India on the eve of 71st Republic Day of India and made strong appeal to the President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind to advice the Union Govt. to release all political prisoners in the country who have been detained under different Security Detention Laws in different Union Territories and provinces in the country so that the political suppression shall end and those who have been detained as political punishment in different provinces of the country shall also heave sigh of relief and breathe cool breeze of freedom all over the country. NPP Supremo who himself suffered political imprisonments in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere only because he did not surrender or compromise with the unjust rulers from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

 

          Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party while addressing a strong gathering of activists of National Panthers Students Union, Young Panthers, Panthers Trade Union and others made a strong appeal to the President of India, who himself was a noted Advocate in the Supreme Court of India for his urgent intervention seeking information on detenus from all States/Union Territories including those who have been detained in Jammu and Kashmir including hundreds of former Legislators and three Chief Ministers for nearly six months under a Detention Law called as Public Safety Act which had lost its validity on August 5, 2019 the day Parliament of India erased/demolished Article 35-A from the Indian Constitution. This Article was invoked by the Presidential Order in May 1954 which had lost its credibility 69 years’ back has still been applied by J&K Administration under the President’s Rule. Prof.Bhim Singh, a Sr. Advocate in the Supreme Court appealed to the President of India to issue a special ordinance directing Lt. Governor of J&K to release all prisoners detained under PSA in J&K so that the message of the 71st Republic Day shall reach every door even in the freezing winds of Kashmir.

 

          Prof.Bhim Singh also appealed to all Members of Parliament to understand their constitutional responsibility to uphold sanctity of the Constitution of India. All the political parties should urge the President of India to organize an urgent meeting of the representatives of all recognized political parties to ensure that the whole country and all political leaders shall take up a joint cause of spreading peace, harmony, love among the people of the country. That should be message of the Republic Day to all but not in the prison houses. Republic Day should send this message from the Presidential House, New Delhi.
