58% back Modi govt's Article 370 move in J&K: MOTN


JAMMU, Jan 24:After five months, when the Narendra Modi government decided to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and scrap the special status of J&K, the Mood of the Nation (MOTN) survey conducted by the India Today Group and Karvy Insights shows majority supports the August 2019 move.

The respondents were asked: Do you think the NDA government's move to abolish Article 370 will lead to a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue?

In response to this question, 58 per cent respondents said they feel that the decision will provide a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue; 26 per cent answered in negative while 16 per cent could not form any conclusive view on the Article 370 move.

A region-wise breakdown of the MOTN survey showed that 56 per cent respondents in north India believed that abrogation of Article 370 will provide a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue. The figures for East, West and South were 60 per cent, 67 per cent and 50 per cent respectively.
