Systematic vocational training through 99 institutes: Ansari


 

SRINAGAR, June 13: Minister for Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari today informed the House that Technical Education Department does not deal with selection process of skilled youth for their employment/recruitment. He said that the Department is delivering a systematic vocational training through a network of 54 Government and 45 private ITIs totaling 99 across the state under different training schemes in a number of trades/courses designated by NCVT/SCVT/DGET.

Replying to a question by Mr Javaid Mustafa Mir, the Minister said that the objective of the training is to enrich the potential among the un-employed youth for their employment. He said that the entry qualification of most of the trades is 10th pass except the trades of welder, carpenter, mason, painter whose entry qualification is 8th pass.

The Minister said that a number of trainees of various trades including those having low/minimum qualification of 8th pass get placed in the public sector as per the requirements through Placement Cells of the Department.

He said that the requirement of skilled labour in the industrial sector is projected in the Placement Cells of the ITIs. He said that the pass outs and trainees are informed of the recruitment drive and facilities are provided to them to appear for the interview and get employment.

The Minister said that low skilled labour having qualification of 5th Pass are trained in Modular Employability Schemes of the Centre in short term courses. He said that the certificates awarded to them are globally accepted and allow them to compete with more skilled people in the private sector.
