5 Days Teachers Training- NISHTHA commenced under Samagra Shiksha in Jammu
JAMMU, Nov 15: The mega 5-days training programme-NISHTHA commenced under Samagra Shiksha under the overall supervision of Commissioner/Secretary School Education, Ms. Sarita Chauhan. The second day of the training concluded successfully. The training is being conducted at Jammu University campus in five different groups. A total of 295 KRPs participated in the training who shall later impart the same training to other teachers in their respective districts in cascading mode.
 
The training is being conducted by National Resource Group (NRG) represented by experts from NCERT, NIEPA, CBSE, KVS, JNS, UNICEF and other organizations. The key experts who delivered the sessions were Prof. A. K. Rajput (J&K Convener-NISHTHA), Dr. C. V. Shimray, Dr. Ashwani Garg, Prof. Usha Sharma, Prof Padma Yadav, Prof. Saroj Yadav and Dr. Ram babu Pareek from NCERT. The experts took technical and interactive sessions on Social Personal Qualities, Health & Well Being, Pedagogy of EVS, Initiatives in School Education and School Based Assessment. The trainings were based on interactive learning and hands on experiences. Participants were jubilant while attending the programme and revealed that such trainings develop holistic personality of teachers and shall help them while teaching in their classes. With the contemporary vision of new Draft Education Policy and NCF-2005, focus is centric on Learning Outcomes. The core objective of NISHTHA is to inculcate pedagogical skills among teachers based upon Learning Outcomes. The sessions culminated with feedbacks to assess the acquired competencies of participants on daily basis. 
 
Dr. Arun Manhas, State Project Director-Samagra Shikhsa also visited the training venue and interacted with the participants as well as Experts. Participants apprised the SPD that such trainings are essential for academic updations of teachers and must be organized on regular basis. Dr. Manhas also advised the teachers for their active participation in the programme and make efforts to acquire maximum knowledge out of it so that the same can be disseminated in the field. He further reiterated that Samagra Shiksha under the aegis of Department of School Education is making all possible efforts to improve teaching quality through regular Teacher Trainings, Workshops, Orientation of Principals, providing ICT interventions in schools etc. Dr. Manhas stressed upon State Coordinator-NISTHA to take regular feedback from participants and to maintain a close liaison with the participants for future endeavors.
