PULWAMA, June 04: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today inaugurated one day awareness programme at EDI Pampore for entrepreneurship development in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister dwelt in detail on the role of entrepreneurship in mitigating the problem of unemployment in the state. He highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship initiatives in reviving the traditional handicraft, walnut and other sectors of state economy. He called for close coordination between the skill imparting institutions and various departments implementing self employment schemes. He advised the youth not to hanker before government jobs, which are limited, saying that they have to establish their own generating ventures and become the job providers than the job seekers.
Deliberating on the the importance of entrepreneurship in the new era, Secretary Information Technology called upon youth to take entrepreneurship to create sustainable and dignified opportunities of livelihood not only for themselves but for others as well.
In his welcome note, Director EDI, Mr. M.I. Parray said that the unemployment has been a pervasive issue in the state and the government is keen in seeking solution for the same.
Referring to the recent surveys conduct by the Labour Bureau of India, Mr. Parray informed that among 1000 youth in the state 105 are unemployed which amounts to a figure of approximately 12 lakh unemployed youth in the state.
On the occasion, several young entrepreneurs shared successes stories of their start-ups. At the end youth were informed of various handholding schemes for first generation entrepreneurs.
