Police Public Mela at Srinagar; Rajendra discusses arrangements

SRINAGAR, MAY 31: Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar today convened a high level meeting of police officers to discuss the arrangements for 28th Police Public Mela, to be held in summer capital. The meeting discussed arrangements in threadbare to organize mega event in a befitting manner.

Mr. Rajendra sought suggestions from the officers present in the meeting and discussed the same to conduct the day- long Mela in Srinagar City. Various committees were constituted and assigned the different duties to make the event a grand success.   

Mr. Rajendra, while addressing the meeting said that during the past few years, police public Mela has assumed much popularity among the masses and the people across the state have been seen anxious for the grand event. The occasion has brought the force much closer to the public and people from all shades of life are participating in the Melas in twin capital cities of the State. He stressed to  introduce new items in the Mela, representing different regions of the State to make the event attractive for the public. He asked the officers to ensure sale of tickets well in advance for the public in prominent places in both the provinces and also on the Mela day at the venue by establishing special sale counters and computerization of raffle draw tickets to make the process transparent. He also stressed upon the officers to coordinate at all levels to make the event a success.         

The meeting decided that the stall holders from various police units would establish their stalls at the identified space and display unique items representing their areas in a befitting manner. Designated officers would ensure quality of the goods, besides reasonable rates.

DGP said that the event provides an opportunity to the public to get items of different regions of the State under one roof. Cultural and amusement items would form part of Mela to entertain the participants, particularly the children. He asked to start the preparation in advance and make coordination with other departments and agencies.

Earlier. AIG (Welfare). Dr. M. Hasseeb Mughal briefed the meeting about smooth conduct of mega event in capital city through power point presentation. He gave detailed account about the products to be displayed in the Mela, raffle draw and fabulous prizes to be fixed for the prize winners. He also apprised the meeting about the raffle draw tickets to be made available for the general masses and police establishments in all district headquarters across the State.       

Among others, the meeting was attended by  ADsGP,  VK Singh, SM Sahai, Dilbag Singh and AK Choudhary, IsGP, HK Lohia, SJM Gillani, MS Salaria,  MA Khan, Sunil Kumar, SL Sharma, Jagjit Kumar, MA Ganai and JP Singh, DIsGP, Viplav Kumar, Garib Dass and GH Bhat, DPT, Hilal Ahmed, AIsGP, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Tahir Sajad, Sheikh Zulfikar Azad and Kulbir Singh, DD (Building) Muniesh Dutta, Sr.ADO, BA Shah, Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital, Dr. Foziya Habib and other police officers.
