DFCO destroys over 13000 litres of unwholesome milk in Jammu


JAMMU, APRIL 30 – In its 10-day state-wide special drive against the supply of sub-standard milk and milk products to the consumers, the Jammu and Kashmir Drugs and Food Control Organization (DFCO) on 6th day destroyed 766 liters of sub-standard mil and lifted 33 smples from different locations of the State.

Since the launch of the drive, the Organization has destroyed 13311 litres of unwholesome milk including todays and collected 267 samples of milk and milk products. The special drive will continue for another four days and after that the organization will conduct special inspections of shops and vendors to ensure quality supply of consumable items.

Meanwhile the Food Safety authorities have cautioned the shopkeepers and milk sellers to desist from the illegal practices and cooperate with the authorities for ensuring quality food items to the consumers. The authorities have also sought cooperation from the general masses and have asked for feedback regarding the unwholesome supply of consumable  goods anywhere so that it can take action to keep a check on such activities, said an official spokesman of the DFCO.
