10th SaMaPa Aalap Festival concludes with Salil Bhatt’s delightful performance

 JAMMU, Feb 26- The 10th annual edition of prestigious SaMaPa Aalap Festival, 2016 by Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts concluded today with splendid concerts organised at DPS Rajouri and Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School, Sainik Colony, Jammu.

The concluding concert of the festival featured delightful performances by Pre-Grammy Award nominee Shri Salil Bhatt, creator of the Satvik Veena and winner of prestigious SaMaPa Yuva Ratan Samman 2013. Shri Salil Bhatt presented Raga Charukeshi at Tiny Tots School enthralling more than 500 children and hundreds of music lovers who attended the concert including Prof. Aparna Bhajan Sopori, Sufi Singer Ragini Rainu, Pianist Aman Nath, Educationists Shri Barkat Hussain and Smt. Kiran Zutshi and others. Principal Dr. Vikram Handa welcomed the artists and the guests. He said that it’s a matter of pride that SaMaPa concluded the Aalap festival at the institute which has created a difference in the lives of millions. He thanked SaMaPa for organizing the concert and exposing the young children to the rich heritage of the country. Chairperson Smt. Veena Handa and Director Smt. Gurpreet Handa presented bouquets, shawls and mementos to the artists.

Maestro Sopori thanked the media for its support in ensuring the reach of the music festival to the people of the region and millions outside. Expressing  pleasure on the success of the festival, maestro Sopori said that it was satisfying that SaMaPa could reach out to people through its envisaged programme – Jan Jan Tak Sangeet. He said it was a matter of pride that various musicians of the State especially from far flung areas  participated in the festival sharing the stage with a number of eminent and renowned musicians. He added that our rich music, performing arts and the culture is our identity. He thanked everyone who has been a part of the festival for their support  to SaMaPa in this movement .

The prestigious festival was held in collaboration with Department  of Tourism, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages and Department  of Information & Public Relations, J&K from February 16th to 26th in various areas of  Jammu and border areas like Rajouri, Samba, Akhnoor, R.S Pura  etc.  Various eminent and legendary musicians, young budding talent, child artists and school children participated in the grand musical extravaganza apart from various talks and music discourses.
