JAMMU, Feb 17 - In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor and illegal smuggling of liquor from other States, the J&K Excise Department has intensified raids/ checking of various locations to check the crimes being committed.

 Excise Team Kathua under the command of ETO, Sandeep and ETO, Eradication, Suresh raided Veerso Chak and Sunjwan area of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation. More than 525 kilo grams of Lahan and ten pouches of illicit liqour made from lahan, which is highly hazardous & injurious to health, were recovered during the raids conducted which were later destroyed by the team on spot.
