CSC: Ushering a Digital revolution in Govt operations

JAMMU, Feb 10: The Department of Information Technology has approached all the Departments to extend their online services through the network of Common Service Centres (CSC) established by it. For the purpose the Department has taken up the matter with PDD, Election Department, Kashmir University, SMVDU, Housing and Urban Development Department and Census Department.

Already the department has integrated the services of three key selection making bodies- SSB, PSC and BOPEE- with its CSC portal. The Department has also signed an agreement with Punjab National Bank for engagement of its CSCs as their Banking Centers and similarly the State Bank of India has also extended its online services through the CSC network of the Department.

The Department has already received nods from agencies and departments like JMC, PHE, Jammu University and Transport Department for integrating their online services with its CSC portal.CSC project was launched in August 2015 by the Union Governments Department of Electronics & Information Technology under the Digital India Programme and it envisages expansion of CSC network by setting up 2.5 Lakh CSC at the rate of one CSC in every Gram Panchayat.

A National Portal for the CSC Scheme www.apna.csc.gov.in has also been developed to streamline and standardize service delivery through the CSC network. Today, CSCs are delivering a variety of services to citizens through the same portal in rural India, changing the way they learn, communicate, manage their livelihoods and access government, health, and financial services.
