JAMMU, Dec 17:Minister for Transport, Abdul Gani Kohli paid a surprise visit to Toll Post of Excise and Taxation Department and Trucks Loading Point (TLP) Railway Station, Jammu, today.MLC Charanjeet Singh and RTO Jammu Ashwani Kumar Khajuria accompanied the Minister.
The Minister seized more than 40 over loaded trucks loaded with IPL Urea, Cement, Sugar and Iron. He found on spot that the trucks were overloaded with more than double load. While checking the records of the Excise and Taxation Department Toll Plaza, it was found that 9 ton capacity trucks were loaded with 18 ton load against two different challans in violation of rules. He instructed the RTO to ensure that no vehicle shall leave towards its destination without proper checking.
The Minister directed setting up of two naka points one each at Toll Plaza and Trucks Loading Point Railway Station immediately to check that no truck is over loaded in any case. He said that double loading in trucks is not only huge loss to state exchequer but it is loss to the drivers also who wait for their turn for weeks together.
Interacting with the truck drivers the Minister said necessary steps shall be taken to stop overloading system adding that anyone found in this practice in future shall be dealt with in accordance with law.
