250 Kanals Bhang Cultivation Destroyed At Shopian 




Shopian Sep 9: - on the directions passed by the District Development Commissioner Shopian, Mr. Mohammad Aijaz,  district administration Shopian  conducted a drive against bung cultivation. The team was headed by Tehsildar Zainapora Shakeel Ahmad. It was stated that bung  cultivation spread  over  250 kanals of land at village Mela-hura(vanduna), Zainapora was destroyed during the drive. Tehsildar Zainapora has initiated legal action against the cultivators of bung. Deputy Commissioner Shopian said that these activities are detrimental to the entire society, particularly to the young generation. He stressed on creating more awareness so that the drug menace is eradicated completely from the society. 


Speaking tough on the bung cultivation in the district, District Development Commissioner Shopian said that no stone would be left unturned in making this district free from such illegal activities and joint teams comprising of concerned Naib Tehsildar , Station House Officer and Assistant Excise officer headed by respective Tehsildar have been already constituted. The team has been entrusted with the job to conduct random monitoring and mapping for eradication of wild bhang grown along roadsides and riverbanks They will also map timely survey and conduct destruction of bhang and bung crop in its infancy stage.


It was also  given out that the stern necessary action as per the law would be initiated against the offenders who grow, harvest, store, transport buy/sell or deal with such illegal activities.
