New Delhi, Oct 30: Punjab National Bank has suspended around 20 branch heads across the country following surprise inspections by senior officials, which allegedly found unauthorised persons inside bank branches, including cash sections, assisting employees with banking operations and working on branch computers.
During these visits, outsiders were allegedly found assisting bank employees in handling customer services and other routine banking activities.
It was found that some branch heads had been relying on private individuals, including generator operators, recovery agents, insurance company representatives, business correspondents and sub-staff, to manage day-to-day operations.
It added that Bank's policy does not permit unauthorized outsiders to remain inside branch premises or participate in banking operations.
