Ujjain, Sep 17: On the fourth day of the media tour of Madhya Pradesh organised by Press Information Bureau (PIB), Jammu, media delegation visited the revered Mahakaleshwar Temple and Mahakal Lok in Ujjain.
The team participated in traditional religious rituals and offered prayers at the shrine. Ujjain is home to the famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva and the only Dakshinamukhi (south-facing) Jyotirlinga in the world.
It is famous daily morning ritual held at 4:00 AM where the Lingam is adorned with sacred ash. From Mahakal Temple , one moves to Ram Ghat, which is the oldest and most revered bathing ghat on the holy Shipra River in Ujjain. This is famous for the daily evening aarti and the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Daily Shipra Aarti are held every evening around 6:30 PM, creating a divine and peaceful atmosphere. It is widely believed to be the site where Lord Rama performed final rites for King Dasharatha, and where drops of Amrit fell.
The Jantar Mantar also known as Vedh Shala , is located about 2.3 km from Ram Ghat, this ancient astronomical observatory was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. Features large stone instruments designed to track celestial bodies, study space, and calculate local time accurately.
Ujjain is one of the four Kumbh cities, and its ghats are where that status lives.
Outside Kumbh years the ghats are Ujjain's daily religious rhythm: morning dips before temple darshan, pind daan and ancestral rites, evening deep-daan (lamp offering) and the Shipra aarti.
Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department under CM Omar Abdullah and Jammu Administration under DC Rakesh Minhas are taking steps to promote outskirts sites in Jammu on Similar patterns.
Jammu Administration has also started Bus services for Tourists and Locals.
The sites Akhnoor, Purmandal are considered sacred in Jammu and Kashmir. The pilgrimage site of Jammu, situated on the banks of the Devika River, Parmandal is also called 'Chota Kashi."
This place is considered extremely sacred, especially for the devotees of Lord Shiva. If infrastructure is developed, the Sites attract Tourists in large number
