New Delhi, Sep 10: The Greater Noida Executive Magistrate who issued a show-cause notice to a student over his alleged campaign seeking participation in a protest by the Cockroach Janata Party has been suspended, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court on Thursday.
The notice had asked the student to furnish a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh.
A 20-year-old law student at Gautam Buddh University, Akshat Tripathi, had challenged the Magistrate’s Notice, which was issued after a police report alleged that he was instigating other students to participate in a proposed protest.
The notice stated that Tripathi was spreading anti-government, misleading statements among other university students and provoking them, which could disrupt public peace.
Tripathi had said that he had not been going to the university for the past three months. I was working at the Allahabad High Court in July, he said. How could I go to the university and provoke people?
The notice was withdrawn the following day after the allegations were investigated. Order copy with CTN read as under:-
