New Delhi, Aug 04: The Apex Court summoned Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary (Home) of Arunachal Pradesh on August 24, 2026 to respond to allegations of non-cooperation with the CBI in the probe against Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Earlier, the court had directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry into allegations that multiple public works contracts in Arunachal Pradesh were awarded to firms connected to the Chief Minister’s family members.
The Court noted the CBI’s status report dated July 17, which stated there had been non-cooperation from the State government regarding the provision of records.
Earlier, the court had instructed the CBI to investigate contracts awarded between November 2015 and 2025. The order clarified that the CBI should not be restricted from examining transactions outside this period. It also mandated full cooperation from the State government, requiring it to designate a nodal officer to liaise with the CBI and to ensure that no records are destroyed.
The petition alleges that second wife, Rinchin Drema’s firm, Brand Eagles, received numerous government contracts despite a clear conflict of interest.
