Pakistan PM quits after disqualification by SC in Panama Papers Case

S. Sidartha Paramedical Training Institute, Sunjwan, Jammu

NEW DELHI: Pakistan Supreme Court on Friday disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over the Panama Papers case.

The five-member bench pronounced the verdict in an unanimous decision. Sharif, his sons, and daughter Maryam will be prosecuted by the National Accountability Bureau. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif is likely to become the interim PM for 45 days.

Asif is likely to keep the seat warm for Nawaz's brother Shahbaz, who has to win a bypoll to become member of the National Assembly before becoming Prime Minister.
