RAMBAN, JUNE 17: Continuing his mission to reach out to people at their doorsteps, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today conducted a Public Grievances Redressal Camp at Batote to listen to public grievances and review developmental issues of the area.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by ACR Ramban Shokat Hayat Mattoo, ACD Sheraz Ahmed, CMO, CAO, CHO, CAHO, Executive Engineer JPDCL, Tehsildar Batote and other district and sectoral officers. Prominent citizens and a large number of residents participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that the objective of holding such Public Grievances Redressal Camps is to bring governance to the doorsteps of the people.
He said the administration is reaching out directly to the public to ensure prompt redressal of grievances and effective delivery of services.
Responding to road-related demands, the Deputy Commissioner informed that the Nashri–Patnitop road project under NHAI is nearing completion.
He further stated that issues concerning the Sanasar–Champa Dayanu road have already been taken up with the concerned authorities, and directions have been issued for the clearance of potholes and widening of sharp curves within the coming weeks.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer, JPDCL, to immediately replace damaged electric poles and worn-out cables to prevent any untoward incidents. He also instructed the department to examine complaints regarding electricity billing and unscheduled power curtailments and take appropriate corrective measures.
He further directed the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Batote, to immediately initiate the construction of the proposed public toilet in the main market of Batote to improve civic amenities for residents and visitors.
The engineers of the Jal Shakti Department were directed to ensure adequate and uninterrupted water supply to the affected areas.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the CMO to ensure the proper functioning of Emergency Hospital Batote, emphasizing that patient care and treatment must remain the foremost priority of the Health Department.
The CAO, CHO and officers of all allied sectors were directed to organize regular awareness camps in rural areas to educate farmers about various schemes of their respective departments. He also directed officers and bankers to ensure the prompt disposal and disbursement of pending KCC loan cases of eligible farmers in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the engineers of the PWD to start sanctioned developmental works and ensure their timely completion.
He also instructed the ACR and ACD to identify suitable land for the development of playgrounds under the Youth Engagement Initiative of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, aimed at promoting sports activities and steering youth away from drug abuse.
Highlighting the administration's efforts to combat the menace of drugs in the district, the Deputy Commissioner urged the public to join hands with the administration in identifying drug peddlers and helping individuals affected by substance abuse.
He assured that proper treatment and rehabilitation facilities are being provided to persons suffering from addiction at the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) Centre, District Hospital Ramban.
Earlier, the people raised various issues and demands pertaining to the construction, maintenance and upgradation of roads under PMGSY, PWD and NHAI; strengthening of power and water supply infrastructure; health services at Emergency Hospital Batote; implementation of agriculture and allied sector schemes; availability of veterinary services for sheep; functioning of GDC Batote; development of playgrounds; and disbursement of KCC loan cases.
The Deputy Commissioner addressed most of the issues on the spot and passed directions to the concerned officers for time-bound action on the remaining matters.
The participants appreciated the initiative and expressed satisfaction over the responsive and people-centric approach of the district administration.
