J&K Police ordered inquiry into alleged misconduct by police personnel at Police Station

SRINAGAR, June 12: J&K Police ordered a inquiry into alleged misconduct by police personnel at Police Station Kunzer in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

According to police the incident stems from June 10, when a police team from PS Kunzer was executing a status quo order issued by the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class (JMIC) Tangmarg, in Dhobiwan village and initiated legal and preventive proceedings.

Police said an altercation later reportedly took place inside the police station involving an advocate and police personnel, following which allegations regarding the conduct of police officials surfaced.

             "In view of the concerns expressed and in order to ensure complete transparency, fairness and objectivity, SSP Baramulla has directed for a detailed inquiry into the entire sequence of events, which has been entrusted to a Gazetted Officer," the statement said.

The inquiry shall examine all aspects of the incident, including the conduct of all persons involved, the circumstances leading to the registration of the case, and any allegations of misconduct or use of force.

Statements of all concerned persons shall be recorded and all available evidence shall be examined, it said.
