Cuttack, May 31: Mines official Debabrata Mohanty was allegedly caught while accepting a ₹30,000 bribe from a coal vendor in Cuttack. During subsequent raids, vigilance officials reportedly recovered around Rs 4 crore in unaccounted cash stored in bags, cupboards and other locations inside the residence.
According to Vigilance Director Yeshwant Jethwa, it is the highest-ever cash recovery linked to a trap case in Odisha. From ₹30,000 to ₹4 crore a routine sting operation turned into one of the state's biggest anti-corruption busts.
