Chandigarh, May 04: Chandigarh Police have arrested a woman identified as Amreen for allegedly masterminding the daylight murder of property dealer Chamanpreet Singh, in Sector 9.
Amreen, a resident of Sector 35, was taken into custody by the Crime Branch team under the supervision of DSP Lakshya Pandey and Inspector Narendra Patial.
Investigators revealed that the motive behind the killing was a financial dispute related to a property deal in New Chandigarh.
The case took a decisive turn on April 29, 2026, when the Crime Branch received a tip-off and set up a checkpoint near Satsang Bhawan in Maloya. One, Harshpreet Singh was intercepted based on suspicious activity. During a search, the police recovered a foreign-made .45 bore pistol and two live cartridges from his possession.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the recovered weapon was registered in Amreen’s name, linking her directly to the case. Harshpreet’s disclosures helped investigators establish the contract killing angle, leading to intensified efforts to trace the entire network.
A case under Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act was registered against him.
