Kathua, May 02, 2026: The Kathua District Administration has imposed a complete ban on stubble burning across the district to curb air pollution and protect public health.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma said strict action will be taken against violators, and all concerned departments have been directed to ensure enforcement.
He urged farmers to adopt alternative stubble management methods and make use of machinery and facilities provided by the Agriculture Department.
Awareness campaigns are also being conducted to educate farmers about the environmental and health hazards of stubble burning.
Local representatives have welcomed the move, urging villagers to cooperate with the administration and avoid burning crop residue.
