DC Rajouri stresses intensive counselling, hotspot identification, strict enforcement to curb drug abuse

RAJOURI, APRIL 25: District Development Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired the 45th meeting of the District Level NCORD (Narco Coordination) Committee to review the measures being undertaken to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the district.

The DDC emphasized on devising a multi-pronged strategy focusing on counselling of affected individuals, identification of drug hotspots and peri-hotspot areas, and intensified awareness activities.

He directed to organise padyatras in identified hotspot and peri-hotspot areas to enhance community participation and spread awareness against drug abuse.

To strengthen grievances redressal and intelligence gathering, the DDC instructed for the installation of complaint boxes at strategic locations. He further directed all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to submit lists of any employees found involved in drug-related activities, stressing zero tolerance against such misconduct.

The SSP briefed the chair that 34 FIRs have been registered so far this year in connection with drug-related cases. The DDC laid special emphasis on initiating property attachment proceedings against drug peddlers to dismantle the financial backbone of the illicit trade.

He also directed the Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) to regularly review NCORD-related measures at the sub-division level to ensure effective implementation and monitoring.

The meeting was attended by SSP Gaurav Sikarwar, ADC Ravi Kumar Sihag, ACD Auqil Naveed, District Social Welfare Officer and other district and sectoral officers. NO: PR/DDI/J/432//
