Azamgarh, April 19: One, Police Sub-inspector Abhishek Singh, posted at Saraimir Police Station, was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
It added that he had initially demanded Rs 1 lakh from one Avneesh Rai to remove his name from a case related to a hookah bar registered on March 29, but later agreed to take Rs. 20,000 as an advance.
The complainant approached the Anti-Corruption Organization, which set up a trap near the police station.
Singh was caught red-handed while accepting chemically treated cash & following the arrest, he was taken into custody, sent to ja!l, and legal proceedings were initiated against him.
