Srinagar, April 14: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone VK Birdi announced an intensified crackdown on drug peddlers and smugglers across the valley, asserting a “zero tolerance” policy against narcotics, while warning of legal action against those involved in a recent “illegal act” in Sopore.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Baisakhi celebrations in Srinagar, the IGP, as per news agency Kashmir News Service, stated that the anti-drug campaign has gained “new impetus” under the Drug Free India initiative.
All ranks of the police department have been instructed to maintain zero tolerance towards drugs. In the coming days, the campaign against drugs will be very intense,” IGP Birdi said.
He added that strictest action will be taken against all drug peddlers, smugglers, and those who abuse substances to protect our present and future generations from addiction.
