Babila Rakwal presides Inter-College Youth Seminar at GDC Ramban; Highlights Nasha Mukt Campaign

Ramban, April 13: District Administration Ramban, in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Ramban, today organized an Inter-College Youth Seminar to commemorate Ambedkar Jayanti 2026, marking the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.

The programme was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, and also featured an awareness session on the ongoing 100-day intensive Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.

Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Science & Technology Department, Ms. Babila Rakwal, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Varunjeet Singh Charak, attended as the Special Guest. Among others present were Tehsildar Ramban Deep Kumar, Tehsildar Hqrs Reejuta Mahajan, BDO Hqrs Shalini Chandel, and several district officers.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Principal GDC Ramban, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, who in his welcome address extended a warm reception to the dignitaries and participants.

He paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar, describing him as a champion of social justice, equality, and human rights, and emphasized the enduring relevance of his ideals in contemporary society.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members representing various colleges across the district.

Participants shared insightful perspectives on themes such as social justice, constitutional rights, inclusive development, and the role of youth in realizing Dr. Ambedkar’s vision.

In her address, the Chief Guest highlighted the significance of the Nasha Mukt campaign and stressed the need for collective efforts to channelize youth energy towards constructive pursuits.

She emphasized holistic development and encouraged educational institutions to actively engage students in sports and co-curricular activities, while also fostering awareness against drug abuse.

Addressing the gathering, the ADC elaborated on key aspects of the 100-day campaign and urged the youth to adopt healthy lifestyles and stay away from drugs.

Head of the Department of Geography, Dr. Anuj Gupta, delivered an informative lecture on the ill effects of substance abuse and suggested preventive strategies.

In the competition, Sapna Devi (GDC Ramban) secured first position, followed by Seerat Sayad (GDC Banihal) and Abnam Akhtar (GDC Batote) in second and third positions respectively.


The event was adjudicated by a panel of distinguished faculty members from various colleges.
