KATHUA, APRIL 12: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today launched giant inflatable balloons bearing the mascot of Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA) . An initiative of DIPR district centre, the mascot form part of DIPR's promotional campaign under the ongoing 100-day awareness drive.
The balloons have been installed at two prominent locations—Sports Stadium Kathua and the DC Office Complex.
The balloons have been mounted at a height of around 100 metres at both locations, symbolizing the district’s firm resolve to eliminate drug abuse. These high-visibility installations aim to generate sustained public awareness and act as constant reminders of the collective fight against the menace.
The installation at the Sports Stadium, the starting point of key outreach activities including a grand Pad Yatra scheduled for tomorrow, signifies the launch of a mass movement against drug abuse.
Meanwhile, the balloon at the DC Office Complex underscores the administration’s continued leadership and institutional commitment towards achieving the goals of the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that Kathua is committed to the united resolve against the menace of drug abuse. He emphasized that the administration alone cannot bring about this change and called for active participation from all sections of society.
He urged stakeholders including youth, educational institutions, civil society organizations and grassroots level Institutions to join hands in this mission. He further appealed to the public to participate in large numbers in the Pad Yatra and contribute towards building a drug-free society.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment, the Deputy Commissioner stated that collective efforts and sustained awareness will be key to realizing the vision of a “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir.”
ADDC Surinder Mohan Sharma, ADC Vishavjeet Singh, ACR Vishav Partap Singh, CPO Ranjeet Thakur, DIO Rajinder Digra and other district officers were also present.
