SRINAGAR , Apr 12: Former Mayor Srinagar Juanid Mattu strongly endorsed the message and spirit of communication from the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K on the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.
Mattu said “The menace of drug abuse is not just a policy issue. It is perhaps the most daunting and defining challenge facing our community today. It threatens our youth, destabilizes families, and erodes the very social fabric that binds us together as a community. This is not a moment for selective concern or fragmented responses to this call. This is a moment in history that demands collective awakening and action.
For this cause we must rise above politics, ideology, and individual differences. There can be no divisions when the future of an entire generation is at stake. Whether in government, public life, civil society, or within our own homes, all of us share a responsibility, and we must all play a role. I will certainly endeavour to contribute to the best of my ability. I deeply appreciate the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor’s letter and his clear commitment to addressing this crisis through a “Whole of Government” and “Jan Abhiyan” approach.
The recognition that no single institution can tackle this alone is both timely and necessary. The fight against drug abuse must become a true people’s movement. It requires coordination across departments, but equally, it requires participation from every citizen of Jammu & Kashmir.
Let this be a moment of unity. Let us come together to confront this crisis with seriousness, sincerity of purpose, urgency, and shared resolve. We owe it to our youth. We owe it to our future.”
